Dindigul Thalapakattu Biryani Recipe Ingredients
Biryani rice (long rice) – ½ kg
Chicken or mutton – 1/2kg
Oil – 100ml
Ghee – 3tsp
Dalda vanaspati – 3tsp
Onion – 2
Tomato – 2
Cinnamon – 1 piece
Clove – 2
Cardamom – 2
Ginger garlic paste – 2tsp
Curd – 1cup
Salt as required
Lemon – ½
Chilli powder – 4tsp

How to Prepare Thalapakattu biryani recipe in Tamil Style

  1. Wash and soak the Biryani rice half an hour before the preparation.
  2. Take a vessel and pour oil, put cinnamon, clove and cardamom one y one.
  3. Then add the ginger garlic paste, stir well and add the chipped onion.
  4. Fry the onion until it becomes golden brown and add the tomatoes.
  5. Fry fro two minutes and add the chopped mutton pieces, stir continuously.
  6. Add curd, chilli powder and lemon juice. Mix well together.
  7. Add little salt, keep the stove in medium flame and let the mutton to semi cook.
  8. Now add the rice and stir for a minute, add ¼ lit of water and salt.
  9. Cook well and until the water evaporates well (you can use pressure cooker also)
  10. Remove it from the stove and add the ghee and dalda. Mix without breaking the rice.
  11. Very delicious and best thalapakattu biryani recipe is now ready to taste
